The Mummy MOT is a specialist post-natal assessment and treatment plan recommended for all women following childbirth. Whether it’s 6 weeks, or many years after childbirth, our trained specialists can assess the strength and function of the tummy and pelvic floor muscles to help prevent long-term complaints.

What’s included:

  • One-hour post-natal assessment with a Specialist Trained Physiotherapist

  • In-depth check of pelvic floor strength and tummy gap

  • Assessment of any physical problems arising from pregnancy and childbirth

  • Specific post-natal rehabilitation program, tailored to your needs, lifestyle and fitness goals, with post-natal exercises to improve stability, posture and core strength.

50% of women suffer from weakness in their tummy or pelvic floor area after childbirth, and over a third suffer from complex pelvic pain. Instability and weak core strength can cause back pain, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction.

Stress incontinence (when you cough, sneeze, or when exercising), urge incontinence (the sudden need to urinate), or frequency incontinence (needing to urinate often) are symptoms that can happen as a result of pregnancy. Ladies who have not had children can experience these symptoms, during/after the menopause, or simply while exercising. While nobody is immune to incontinence problems, the good news is that treatment will help, and you should see changes quickly, once you commit to the treatment programme.

Our Mummy MOT will help you avoid these distressing symptoms, so you don’t need to suffer in silence, or feel embarrassed.

Our specialist physiotherapist, Helen Alsop, combines her musculoskeletal background with a deep knowledge of pelvic floor dysfunction.  A registered Mummy MOT practitioner, she helps patients with a variety of conditions, such as incontinence, pelvic pain and separation of the tummy muscles (rectus diastasis).
