Conditions

Sports and Spinal Injury Clinic

Riverside Physiotherapy has excellent links with highly respected orthopaedic consultants. To enhance the success of orthopaedic surgery you will be advised by your consultant to follow a guided rehabilitation program with a physiotherapist.

Often if not managed carefully you may continue to experience problems with stiffness, pain, swelling and a general lack of confidence. In the early stages our therapists will help you to regain movement, decrease swelling, and strengthen the muscles around your joint. We will advise you on how and when you can safely return to normal activities including sport. You will be given an exercise program to guide you back to your pre-operative state.

More Information About

The word "arthroscopy" comes from two Greek words; "arthro" (joint) and "skopein" (to look). The term means to look within the joint. This is done with a tiny, pen-shaped instrument that has a micro video camera attached to the end. The surgeon uses the images to diagnose the joint problem, and if necessary, to carry out appropriate surgery.
